My Great-Great Grandmother had this book published January 1, 1889, detailing her move out west and camping experiences throughout most of California's vast countryside. I dedicate my time Camping out in Carrizo to her adventuresome spirit.

Wilderness therapy is regarded as the answer to the problems of troubled teens when all other methods fail. Children living in single parent homes, in homes where parents are unstable and children who abuse drugs and alcohol, greatly benefit when they undergo wilderness therapy.

I recently read your great-great grandmother's book as part of a project for the Kelley House Archives in Mendocino. Her descriptions of her travels along the California coast are wonderful and at times, harrowing. She sounds like an adventurous woman. Thanks for sharing your connection to her.
