In one month's time, the weather up in Carrizo has changed dramatically. About 80 degrees differently! Boy was it cold this past weekend!
Bailey and I drove up to the hideout Friday evening to take up some accumulating building supplies that we have been saving. We arrived to find that while the trailer was unmolested, the new fire ring had been destroyed and most of the rocks we had placed to line the perimeter of the guzzler had been thrown into the pond. No respect! Fortunately the pond seems to be still holding water, but we will probably wait until next spring to empty, clean and repair it. The trees seem to be doing well and I planted some Carrizo grass next to the pond. The furnace worked well and kept us warm Friday night. Shaw and Zion arrived early Saturday morning and we all hiked the property to determine where the four corners were approximately located and think we are pretty close. 30 acres is a lot of land and we were thrilled to see that about a third of the property is into the foothills and up the little canyon. If we ever think of building out there, there is a wonderful building pad up there with views of the entire Temblor Range and all the way up to Soda Lake.
